Storage and home upgrades your landlord can't object to
DrillFree Nest is the renter-first guide to organising and improving a home you don't own. Every shelf, caddy, rack and surface we recommend goes up without drilling, holds what it promises, and — this is the part most sites never test their advice against — comes back down cleanly when you move out.
Start with the room that's driving you mad
No-Drill Storage
Shelves, tension systems and over-door storage that hold real weight and come down clean — no holes, no patching, no deposit drama.
Bathroom Without Drilling
Shower caddies, adhesive shelves and over-toilet storage that survive steam and leave the tile exactly as you found it.
Renter-Friendly Kitchen
Cabinet-door, under-sink and fridge-side systems that turn a landlord's kitchen into yours — and reverse in an afternoon.
Peel and Stick, Honestly
Wallpaper, backsplash and floor tiles — including the honest part most sites skip: which ones are NOT actually removable.
Small Apartment Storage
Room-by-room storage systems for small rentals, studios and first apartments where every square foot has to earn its place.
The Deposit Guide
Move-in photos, clean removal, tiny repairs — the full system for handing back the keys and getting your whole deposit back.

How we judge every product
Three questions decide whether anything appears on this site. First: does it install without holes, screws or permanent bonding? Second: does it honestly hold what renters actually need it to hold — books, bottles, pans, not just a candle and a succulent? Third: can it be removed in minutes, leaving the wall, tile or door exactly as the landlord left it? A product that fails the third question is not renter-friendly, whatever its packaging says. Our full method is on the How We Review page.
The renter's golden rules
- Read your lease first. Most ban drilling; many also restrict adhesives on painted walls. Know your paper before you buy anything.
- Take move-in photos. Every wall, floor and fitting, dated. They are your deposit insurance — the Deposit Guide walks you through it.
- Match the method to the surface. Adhesive loves smooth tile and glass, tolerates sealed paint, and fights textured walls and wallpaper. Tension and over-door systems don't care about surfaces at all.
- Plan the removal on day one. If you can't picture exactly how it comes down, it doesn't go up.
